MOvember

Movember is nearly here,, the month to grow a Mo in the name of charity, there's never been a better time to cultivate a caterpillar or give a Mo a go. Here are a few tips to get your started... Choose your Mo
When growing the Mo, many men fall at the 'messy' stage - usually a week or so in when the Mo is at its most unsightly. It's something that you just have to tolerate, safe in the knowledge that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Using a weekend to get a head start is a good idea, or even better a week's holiday - that way by the time you return, you'll be over the unsightly, itchy stage. Decide and define
Finding a style that suits you will probably take a few attempts so play around with your Mo's length and thickness. Always shave just outside the line of your moustache - that will leave you room to tidy it up properly with a the edging blade of razor, if you're planning anything remotely intricate, use a magnifying shaving mirror so you get pinpoint accuracy. Keep it neat
An unkempt Mo is the facial equivalent of dirty fingernails. So keep yours nearly trimmed and even in length. Moisturise
The skin under facial hair can become especially dry, partly because hair tends to wick moisture away from the skin allowing it to evaporate. The result can be itchy skin and dry flakes. This is not a good look so, when moisturising, pay particular attention to the skin under your facial hair, massaging your regular moisturiser in thoroughly with your fingertips. Give it a comb-over
In the same way that your hair benefits from a brushing, your Mo can too, especially if you're going for a bushy 'walrus' look.Keep it clean
Moustaches are magnets for stray bits of food and because of hair's porous nature also have a bad habit of absorbing nasty niffs. So wash thoroughly with you regular facial wash and always rinse with warm water after eating.
 Wax lyrical
In the same way that your hair benefits from a touch of wax, gel or putty, your Mo will look miles better with a little waxing too. Shower before shaving
When shaving around your Mo, use a transparent shave gel or shave oil, which allow you to see where're you're going with the razor, and shave after a shower. This way, the water and steam will have softened the hairs, making them easier to cut.

The Fauxhawk

Kind of a quiff-like, the fauxhawk sits somewhere between the easiness of a French crop and a statement style  whether you opt to take the back and sides really short to emphasise your fauxhawk, or keep it all a little longer for a more even keel, it’s essential to leave the front section – the focal point of this look – longer than the rest.

You can also customise the top maintain some length through the crown for an overall softer shape or have it cut  shorter to produce a sharper finish with a strong contrast from front to back.

How To Style

When it comes to styling, the fauxhawk is surprisingly versatile; keep the front neat and tidy for a smarter, work-appropriate look or go big and messy to make a statement on a night out.

Grooming mistakes you could be making

You’re Not Moisturising Before Bed

This is an error as commonplace as blunt razors in a man’s bathroom. It’s easy to think that as day turns to night, you can put your grooming regime to bed.
The truth, however, is that things are just getting started for your face after your evening wash. Invest in a solid night, a little of this and your skin will wake up more hydrated and younger looking

Cleaning Your Beard Is A Rarity

If that’s the case, I bet you don’t moisturise it either. you’re not alone; beards are meant to be rugged and are therefore often neglected. Problem is, they need the same level of care you’d apply to the hair on your head, lest they go wiry and greasy. Wash your beard with shampoo & apply a touch of conditioner now then.

You Counter Hair Loss By Growing More Hair

This is forgivable. On paper, lengthening your hair would seem like the sensible solution to receding at your temples and/or crown. But this in fact accentuates the areas that are thinning out. This is especially true if you have a side parting or, even worse, a comb-over. Keep it short and sharp, for your own good. I recommend washing your hair with Redken Full impact shampoo & styling with Redken Powder grip to add volume.

Razors In Your Bathroom Are As Old As The Sun

You wouldn’t wash your face with gravel so it makes sense not to carve it to pieces with rusty blades. Most razor heads are done after a few uses. To ignore their expiration is to damage your face beyond repair. You can expect burning, itching, stinging and redness. Sharpe blades require less pressure and therefore cause less damage.  How old is your razor?

Greasy Hair

Q: What’s The Best Routine For Washing Hair That Gets Oily By The End Of The Day?

A: A lot of guys with greasy hair make the mistake of over-washing it with harsh shampoos and bucket loads of hot water. This is bad news, anything that strips the hair of too much oil will only stimulate the scalp to produce more to compensate.
If hair is very greasy, apply shampoo to dry hair and massage in before you add water.
Greasy hair will still benefit from a conditioner, only use a small amount and concentrate on the ends of the hair where it’s driest, rather than at the roots.
How you treat hair after washing is also important. Since both heat and friction stimulate oil production, always blow dry on a cool setting and avoid fiddling with your hair too much or over-combing when styling.
Use a good shampoo like Redken for men Go clean or Mint clean $26

The Quiff

A natural born showstopper, the quiff makes a statement but with the right touches can be worn as subtle or extreme as you like.

The quiff is all about length and volume at the front, so striking a balance is key when it comes to this cut.

If you take the back and sides particularly short while leaving a good deal of length on top, your quiff will look much more dramatic due to the extreme contrast – so have a clear idea in mind as to how you want your quiff to look. Bear in mind that the crown area also needs to be cut shorter to allow the quiff shape to stand out.

Although often seen as a younger man’s style, the quiff works for men of all ages – the size of your quiff should chime roughly with the size of your personality. If you’re opting for a quiff for its rockabilly-infused edge, then go big, but if you’d rather a less attention-grabbing variation go for  a more balanced shape. Face type is also important: since the quiff offers natural volume, it’s best not to take the hair at the sides and back too short if you have a long face.

How To Style

Use Redken powder grip in the front to add volume must be used on dry hair.
